Shaz & Kiks is a beauty brand founded by two Indian-American sisters in August 2020. Their brand is dedicated to childhood summers spent in India were looking on while their grandmother mixed and matched natural ingredients from her kitchen and garden to create a spectrum of beauty concoctions rooted in old Indian Ayurvedic practices.
PR Highlight: Editor's Pick in New Beauty Magazine


I pitched the Shaz and Kik's deep conditioner prewash to a multitude of journalists and influencers one being the executive editor of New Beauty Magazine, Liz Ritter. The prewash was highlighted as the "Editor's Pick" in the New Beauty's Winter 2021 Issue.
Social Media: Instagram Story Strategy and Content Creation

One of Shaz and Kiks brand values was transparency so the brand prioritizes educating its audience on the ingredients used in their products.

As female-owned business, Shaz and Kiks dedicated their platform to empowering women and celebrating female leaders and trailblazers.

I ghostwrote blog content for S&K on occasion because I was eager to share my knowledge about herbal remedies and traditional haircare routines.

One of Shaz and Kiks brand values was transparency so the brand prioritizes educating its audience on the ingredients used in their products.
Initially when I came onboard, their was a lack of consistency and strategy with creating content for Instagram stories. So aside from pitching the products to potential brand ambassadors, I created content for Instagram stories that reflected the brand's values: diversity, transparency, female empowerment, and positivity. Below was an outline of the Instagram stories strategy:

Monday: Good News/Inspiration

ACTION: Sharing 3-5 positive current events or milestones OR sharing beautiful images from our PIN mood board that are inspiring us this month

GOAL: Build an emotional connection with our followers. Mondays tend be rough and we want our followers to have content to look forward and that would help them start their week on a good note.

Tuesday and Thursday: Educational/Cultural Content

ACTION: Post informative content about our products, Ayurveda, South Asian culture, haircare science, tea recipes.

GOAL: Educate our followers about the heritage of our products and to regain ownership of South Asian ingredients that have been appropriated by Western culture.

Wednesday: #WCW Women We Admire

ACTION: Highlighting Female figures or female-owned brands we admire and sharing their achievements.

GOAL: Another method of building an emotional connection with a large female audience. We were focused on making our platform a safe space for women where women can be celebrated and heard.

Friday: Foodie Friday-Recipes 4 the Wknd

ACTION: Sharing hair healthy or cocktail recipes with a Desi-twist for our followers to make on the weekend.

GOAL: Having healthy hair is correlated with how you to take care of your body so we prioritized on sharing content about superfoods and nourishing meals.

ACTION: Sharing 5 products on our must-have list.

GOAL: Strengthen our relation with other brands that share a similar mission with us and create more traffic to our Instagram page.
